Truths about Rizal@150-Commemorative Banknote that never went out.

A proposed 150-peso bill carrying the portrait of Jose Rizal as the central feature in the front portion.

The intent is to promote the 150th birth anniversary of the Philippine national hero.

Oh, by the way, this one never came true.

The idea is good but let’s stick with our current bank notes shall we.

I did some little research about this and the information below from The Manila Paper explains everything please read it and don’t forget to leave a comment. Appreciate it, thanks!

The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (Central Bank of the Philippines has warned the public against a supposedly new Philippine peso bill design circulating online. The P150 bill, supposedly in commemoration of Jose Rizal’s 150th anniversary is ‘fictitious’, according to the BSP. In an official statement, the BSP denied that it was intending to issue such a Philippine banknote.

“The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas never issued nor is planning to issue such type of banknote. Therefore, any 150-Piso commemorative note or similar banknote is fictitious.”

The supposedly new P150 bill design came out via several blogs and in the social media. On one side of the P150 bill is Jose Rizal while on the reverse side is a picture of the Angono-Binangonan Petroglyphs. Compared to other Philippine peso bill designs, however, this one looks rather bare.

However, there are claims that the P150 Jose Rizal banknote is not a hoax. According to “Pinoy Numismatist Network” of Facebook, the P150 bill is a proposed design submitted to the BSP but was subsequently rejected. “Eventually, we ended up with a medal and a ’1-piso Rizal commemorative coin’. No actual paper money were made, only an image which made viral through the net,” Pinoy Numismatist Network claimed.

It will be recalled that, in commemoration of Jose Rizal’s 150th anniversary, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas issued 20 million pieces of a P1 Rizal commemorative coins as well as a Rizal medallion presented to President Benigno Aquino III last year.
